The demand for social housing in the City is very high.

The wait for social housing is very long, often five or more years. Therefore, it is important to consider other housing options as well as social housing.

Not everyone qualifies for the Housing Register. You will not if:

• You are under 18.
• You own property in the UK or abroad.
• You live outside Southampton.
• You have not lived in Southampton for three continuous years at the point of applying.
• You are adequately housed.
